This is a satisfying old-fashioned fairy tale, with magic and meanness, a castle and king, a ball and beauty. First she sent the girl to the garden to get a pumpkin and then she carved it and made a beautiful carriage of it. It also includes notes on the versions of the tale the author consulted. They have beautiful faces and fair skin, but their hearts are cruel and wicked. The step-vultures desperately tried to fix their ugly feathers and the door opened.
