In no way has this influenced my review. He fought long and hard to become the Commissioner of Water and he is not about to get behind some newfangled idea like adding poison to the stuff people drink every day. She is working diligently to convince the state to allow chlorine dilution in the water supply to reduce water-borne diseases, a system we continue to utilize today. I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon. He has written some of the best sci-fi books there is such as Dark Matter and Recursion. Follow the budding romance between two compelling people and lose yourself in a mystery of sabotage and intrigue.

There has been a personal toll to her work since people often make the assumption that the only reason to hire a woman would be to have an affair with her. To me, her characters are some of the best written. Order now. This, as well as the Doctor Clean plot line, made for an unpleasantly confusing read.

Able to combine real history with sweet romance, she is a master of her craft. Nicholas Drake is similarly distinctive, a suitable complement and adversary. Doctor Rosalind Werner is dedicated to purifying water and believes that chlorine might be the answer to preventing the diseases that took her loved ones from her. This book made me stop and think about the chemical we used today known as Chlorine. To enter, click on the Rafflecopter link below.

A daring venture book

By the same token, Daniel Tremain has made it in life as he is now a notable industry magnate; he also has many equally influential rivals. The science behind the process is new though, and while it is very sound, many are afraid of the possible long-term effects of imbibing chemicals.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House. The battle over the water and the mystery of the unknown enemy are intertwined with the romance between Nicholas and Rosalind.

So much better than the classroom. However there is a lot more to Blake than just that series. She and her brother were sent to Germany to live with relatives. Good luck! Nick and Rosalind might be unconventional, but they fit perfectly into their time period; nothing about their behavior is anachronistic.

Rosalind finds herself the target of an enemy who brings her past troubles from Germany to the attention of the news media. Rosalind Werner works tirelessly in her waterborne diseases research with Dr.

I thought A Daring Venture was well-written and had charming main characters. She was born in the U. As the controversy grows more public and inflammatory and Rosalind becomes the target of an unknown enemy, these two rivals will face higher stakes than they ever could have known.

With a master's in history and a master's in library science, she is a research librarian by day and scribbles away on her next novel by night. This book reminds me of the movie Erin Brochovich where the water was making people sick. Camden is a relatively recent entrant to the book publishing circles.

Another aspect of this novel that distinguished it from other historical fiction was the occupation and background of the main character, Rosalind Werner. Rosalind is unaware that Leal is planning to release the chlorine secretly until she overhears a conversation.

John Lael and Dr. How can they prove chlorine will not harm people? A Daring Venture is an engaging, multi-faceted story. Able to combine real history with sweet romance, she is a master of her craft.

This book made me stop and think about the chemical we used today known as Chlorine. But sometimes, and this is why I try never to read reviews about books I have to review, those comments can sway me. John Leal's pioneering work to eradicate waterborne diseases in Jersey City, New Jersey, in the early s.

The lead characters in this story are ones that I could connect to and care about.

A fascinating, suspenseful romance between two dynamic characters...

This bomb-dropped moment allows for a time of separation where the characters are able to evaluate themselves and one another. Despite the significant amount of historical detail, the reader is not overwhelmed — it is carefully woven into the text.

The historical aspect of the novel — from the language, to the technology, to the setting — is fabulous.

A Daring Venture by Elizabeth Camden (2018, Paperback)

Nicholas is hoping that after the legal case is closed, he can court Rosalind and make her his wife. The back and forth of their relationship entertains. To all the Ash fans great news — a fifth one has just been released.A Daring Venture by Elizabeth Camden is the second novel in An Empire State Novel series.

It is June in Jersey City, New Jersey when Dr. John Lael and Dr. Rosalind Werner, a biochemist, get the verdict on a two-year court case for which they were consultants/5(7).

Jul 22,  · My Review: A Daring Venture is a fascinating story about scientist, Doctor Rosalind Werner and her struggle as a woman in an all male science field. She works to prove that her theories can save lives, even when her methods may be questionable.

She's a strong character with a heart for saving people from water born disease. Fabulous historical tales can be hard to come by which is why I treasure the work of Elizabeth Camden.

Able to combine real history with sweet romance, she is a master of her craft. Her latest novel, A Daring Venture, continues the story of the history of clean water in New York begun in A Dangerous Legacy. You don’t have to read that book to enjoy this one, although it does provide a good.

Jun 28,  · This is the second book of the series. Nick’s sister and her husband’s story is told in the first book, A Dangerous Legacy, as were the details about his uncle and how he came into his money. Though it would be helpful to read that book first, this story stands by itself.
